Shots were fired outside the Chevron following an argument among Nembhard and his three passengers, according to police. Atlanta police have accused an Uber driver, 36-year-old Nigel Nembhard, of murder in the shooting that killed Kevin Leonard Fulton, also 36, and wounded another passenger.
The crime scene is less than a mile from the Chevron station on Monroe Drive in Piedmont Heights, where a deadly shooting last week claimed the life of a rideshare passenger. One officer was seen toting a rifle evidence box. ÒIt is unclear at this time who was shooting inside the nightclub, who was shooting in the parking lot, or who shot the two people that were wounded.Ó There was a large police presence Tuesday morning outside the club, where investigators worked to collect evidence and spoke with clubgoers. ÒIn the parking lot outside someone began firing (a) gun and security personnel at the nightclub returned fire,Ó the police department said in a statement. Investigators determined a fight inside the club escalated to gunfire, and the crowd began to thin. Both were said to be stable late Tuesday morning. A second victim later showed up at a hospital. According to police, officers responded about 3:30 a.m. At the end of the video, which was shared with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, two Atlanta police officers can be seen pulling into an intersection. The person filming hid behind a fence in a parking lot when what sounded like at least two different shooters opened fire. At least two dozen shots can be heard in bystander video of the shooting outside the Onyx Atlanta club, which is located on Cheshire Bridge Road just south of I-85.
